  • International School of the Americas (ISA)

The school opened in 1958.

The school board has twice voted on whether to rename the school to address concerns about the safety and focus of students in the context of national debate around memorializing the Confederacy. In 2015 the vote failed but in 2017, after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, the vote succeeded. As of August 2017, the plans for renaming had not been set and the renaming would not occur before the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

In 2017, after events such as the Charlottesville riots, which sparked a debate regarding Confederate monuments and names still being used in high schools, the NEISD board of Education voted to change the name of the school to Legacy of Educational Excellence (L.E.E.) High School on a 5 to 2 vote.
